ALASKAN MALAMUTE IN SLOVAKIA

Breeding of Alaskan Malamute is increasingly popular among breeders as working and companion breed. In 1993, SKCHPSP (Slovak Club of Breeders of Northern Dog Breeds) was founded, and 115 kennels which resulted in many high-quality dogs and bitches were registered till year 2000. Numbers of registered individual dogs increased quickly: in September 1993 - Malamute number 500, in April 1996 - Malamute number 1000 and in January 1999 - Malamute number 1500 was registered. Thanks to Spanish dog Kid de Soto de Riofrio(3), renewing of genetic material was realized during autumn of 1998. In 2000, musher and breeder Branislav Slany imported one dog and one bitch (offsprings of imported dog Totem Spirit In The Sky from USA) from Czech republic. In autumn 2002, new genetic material came again to Slovakia by Polish dog Navaho Huk Amarok. New imports from Czech republic (offsprings of dogs Buffalo Bill Inditarod and Mackinaw Cosmic Connection) were realized one year later.

It was back in 1980 in former Czechoslovakia, when first Alaskan Malamute bitch Alekka of Nome was imported to Czech republic who was mate with gray-white dog Sakeetawa`s Amagug in Germany. This bitch was imported by Ing. Hana Petrusova who founded first Malamute Kennel in Czechoslovakia (DEL MONTE). The next imported bitches were from Germany (Parka Von Mount Kinley imported to DEL MONTE Kennel) and from USA (Athabasca of Midnite Sun imported by Vlastimil Soukup who founded second kennel ALBERTA). These bitches were mate in 1982 by rent gray-white dog Iltchi Von Mount Kinley from Germany. In 1983, new kennels based on individuals from kennels DEL MONTE and ALBERTA were established (VERVA CS, MAGNOLIA CS). In addition, new dogs were continuously imported Saskatchevan of Mistahias, Jotom`s Mescalero, Tamanak Chiminuk (ing.Petrusov�), Mister T Grandson of Kaitu from Alaska (breeder Kate�ina Krej��).

In March 1983, first Alaskan Malamute kennel in Slovakia (NOME) was founded by Mr. Jozef Buday from Trnava. He mate his bitch Alaska del Monte with above mentioned dog from Germany (Iltchi Von Mount Kinley). Alaskan Malamutes breeding was covered in this time by KCHMPP - Club of Breeders of Rare Dog Breeds. Puppies were born on 15.7.1983 - 5 bitches and 1 dog: A�A, AJA, AJKA, AKELA, ALKA, ARO. Unfortunately, dog and two bitches died. The next imported dogs were Condor del Monte and Alaik Alberta. Later, new kennels based on individuals imported from Czech republic were established in Slovakia (in 1988, puppies of bitch Fairy del Monte mate with dog Boro Manitoba were born in Z LIKAVSK�HO HRADU kennel of Mr. �ap��ka). In 1990, Mr. Anto�ovsk� from Pre�ov obtained the bitch Fairy del Monte of Mr. �ap��k and founded the kennel ZO SOLIVARSKEJ L�KY. Bitch was mate with dog Lion Flammingo di Latina who was imported to Czech republic from Italy (Mrs. Paola Frate). Juraj Fabi�n continued - in 1989, he brought bitch Arktida Adira from Czech republic and this bitch won the title "World Winner" in young category on World Dog Show in Brno. He founded DEASY kennel and on 1st of January 1991, first puppies were born. In this kennel on 11th of August 1993, the most famous dog in Slovak history was born - Ich. Dustin Deasy. In 1992, Mr. Stefan Gubric founded Z GUBRICOVHO DVORA kennel who mate his bitch Bakaja P��tel s�ehu with exellent dog - typical representant of Alaskan Malamute - Ich. Asuan od Seketa(1), in January 1993 this bitch was mate with dog from USA - Bencmark Night Moves(2).
